Purchasing planning for pharmaceuticals inventory: a case study of drug warehouse in hospital

Lack of purchasing planning and proper demand forecasting causes hospitals to suffer from drug inventory mismatches with actual demand; in other words, the management cost is high if quantity exceeds or less demand. Therefore, this research aimed plan an appropriate purchase reduce costs effectively meet hospital's pharmaceutical needs a case study: i) for 29 AV drugs using Minitab 19, ii) economic order (EOQ) Newsboy form when stable non-steady, respectively, iii) design ready-made program Excel help control, make decisions be easy use. There were 5 methods used. Each method was selected one slightest error. Twenty-four five determined EOQ forms re-order point (ROP), safety stock (SS), total costs. The per year 1,780,336.98 baht; compared current method, it reduced by 506,569.10 baht 22.15% reduction.
